Jim’s April 2012 Commentary

 

 

When I was growing up, I would remark to my father that I couldn’t wait to be a certain age because it would allow me to do certain things. His response would always be never to wish your life away, and as I get older I remember and appreciate his wisdom. That said, even at this tender age, I can’t wait for winter to be over. Fortunately, for the most part, this year winter never even arrived.  The first quarter of 2012 saw continued slow economic growth, an improving jobs number, a housing market which has failed to rebound, dysfunctionality between politicians, Israel, USA and Iran, Bobby Valentine and Ben Cherington, and a heartbreaking football game in February which, two months later, still leaves a bitter aftertaste.
